MOM GIVES KID A PB&J AT TARGET; ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE

A woman went on a parenting blog to ask if she was in the wrong for allowing her 4-year-old daughter to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at Target. The woman asked the question on a New York blog called UrbanBaby. She wrote: “Has it become unacceptable to eat peanut butter in public? DD was eating a pb&j at a store today, and a woman stopped me to lecture me about peanut allergies.”
The comments were wild. She was vilified for everything from messing up a shopping cart to not feeding her kid at a table to making the world unsafe for kids with peanut allergies. Some of the posts:
– “Your total disdain for the safety of other kids is awful. For the love of God at least feed her in the car if you absolutely can’t feed her at home! Everything about your post is vile.”
– “You feed your child in a Target shopping cart? That is disgusting! Your problem is much bigger than the peanut butter!”
– “That’s actually kind of lousy of you. You are aware that kids with peanut allergies exist in the world, so it’s kind of a D move to let your kid smear peanut butter all over the child seat of a public cart.”
– “I hope no child dies because of any residual peanuts on the cart.”
– “I make a mess with pb&j and I’m an adult. So, you’re wrong but just can’t fathom how…”
