TOWN SEEKS NEW NAME

In a recent survey, citizens of the unincorporated town of Indian Land, South Carolina were asked if they wanted to incorporate the town. They voted overwhelmingly against it. But on the same ballot used to cast votes was a write-in area asking voters what the town name should be if the resolution were to pass. More than 700 people wrote in names, with the majority being Indian Land. But then, other people had suggestions for a new town name:
– “Gregville”, Mark’s Town,” and “Jason Land” got a few votes.
– “Mayberry”
– “Fort Awesome”
– “Carperbagger City”
– “Suckers”
– “Smiley Town”
– “Tebowville”
– “Hillary Clintonville”
– “Liberalville”
– “What Were We Thinking”
– “Kissmybuttburg”
– “Deez Nutsville”
– “Poop Land,” which got two votes.
– “Party Town”
– “Nopeville”
– “Abomination”
– “Idiot Land”
– “Dingleton”
– And, of course, “Towny McTownerson”
* No, no, no! It should be Towny McTownFACE!
* Good to see the local citizenry is proud of its town.
* How great would it be to be able to write “Kissmybuttburg” on your bills?
* An option NOT on the ballot: Giving Indian Land back to the Indians.
