FUNERAL HOME MESSES UP FOUR VIEWINGS IN ONE DAY
A Manhattan funeral home botched four wakes on Sunday night.
– One family showed up to RG Ortiz Funeral home to mourn 80-year-old Maria Castro. Her casket arrived three and a half hours late for the scheduled viewing – but it did not contain Maria Castro, although the body was wearing her clothes. Castro’s body finally turned up at 8:30 p.m. – a half-hour before the $7,000 service was supposed to end.
– Rafael Garcia’s body also arrived three hours late in someone else’s clothes. His service cost $10,000.
– Then, another person’s casket was still in the room when mourners for Jeremy Rodriguez arrived to pay their respects. Rodriguez’s body eventually arrived hours late. The family, which paid $11,000, was forced to wheel his casket in and the other one out because there was only one person working that night.
– The body of Nancy Rivera’s mother also arrived hours late Sunday and the flowers and decorations that were ordered were never set up. That family had paid $5,000.
Appalled relatives of the four deceased said the funeral home’s lone worker Sunday night, a woman, couldn’t handle all the stress from the screwed-up services and eventually collapsed. Families called an ambulance for her.
* That’s one way to gain sympathy for screwing up.
* It was like musical chairs, but with sadness and crying.
* Should have gone with cremation.
* This is why they refer to the deceased as “the late Mr. So-and-so.”
* I can see it now: “The Wacky Funeral Home” starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.
