ELDERLY WOMAN AND HER PARAKEET IN POLICE CHASE

In Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday night, a woman in her 70s was arrested after leading police on a short, slow chase and evading arrest – all the while holding a parakeet. Police received a call about a driver that may have been intoxicated. The 71-year-old woman kept going when authorities tried to stop her. The chase, which wasn’t long, only reached speeds of about 40 miles per hour. When she stopped, the woman got out of her vehicle with a parakeet in her hand. Multiple baggies of prescription pills were found in the vehicle. Initially, she resisted arrest, but eventually was taken into custody. The parakeet was taken by Animal Control.

* “Look who’s in the cage now!” screamed the parakeet.
* The parakeet wanted to come along ’cause he heard it was a seedy part of town.
* Could have been worse. Could have been 30 cats.
