USED SPACEX ROCKET FOR SALE ON CRAIGSLIST

Someone has listed a “gently used” SpaceX orbital rocket for sale on Craigslist for $9.9 million, “or best offer.” According to the ad, which is more than likely a joke: “Gently used orbital rocket in good condition. Fully loaded with onboard flight computer, launch and landing hardware. Take off and land anywhere! 9X Merlin engines each capable of producing 200k ft.lbs. of thrust. Just fuel it up and it’s ready to go.” The Falcon 9 rocket cost $60 million to make and another $200,000 to fuel, and can carry a payload of 50,000 pounds to near-Earth orbit. (Note: Yesterday, SpaceX successfully test-launched its even more massive “Falcon Heavy” rocket.) If you buy it, you have to go pick it up yourself in Florida’s Port Canaveral: “Must bring own tug boat, no shipping. Asking $9,900,000 or best offer. Do not lowball, this is an orbital capable autonomous rocket. You will not find another one like it. Serious buyers only.”
* The ad also says, “Yo habla North Korean.”
* What can you do with it? Well, it can lift 25 tons, so you could fling Kevin James from Beverly Hills to Portland, Oregon.
* “Must bring own tug boat”? Pffft! If this was on Amazon, shipping would be free.
* Speaking of orbital rockets, I think whoever placed this ad was high.
