COUPLE FAKES HOME INVASION, SHOOT THEMSELVES FOR INSURANCE

A Florida couple faked a home invasion for an insurance scam. Doug Teixera, 35, and Lindsay Pelton, 36, of Deltona, claimed two men burst into their home and shot them during a home invasion on October 26. Teixeira was shot in the leg and Pelton in the arm. Police, during the investigation, found it odd that the residence was filled with dried blood and the smell of bleach. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said: “If this incident just occurred and they called police right away, why would you have dried blood and why do we have bleach all over the house?” The couple was arrested on Tuesday after police discovered their story was an elaborate scam to collect fraudulent insurance payouts from the person who owned the home. Police say the couple even had a lawyer already lined up for insurance proceedings.
* Jumping the gun, as it were.
* These guys are thinking, they HAVE to believe us if we’re shot, right?
* “Hello, 911? We were shot by a guy with the worst aim in the world.”
* Dried blood and bleach? Did they do a practice run last month?
* Just like them, their story had holes in it.
