91-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FALLS DOWN, CAN’T GET UP, EATS DIRT TO SURVIVE
A 91-year-old woman in Kempsey, England, was stranded for two days on her bedroom floor after falling, and survived by eating soil from her potted plant. Rosemary Frank was not far from death when she was rescued Oct. 13 by a volunteer driver who checked on her when she missed her regular ride to a hair salon. She was severely dehydrated and had fractured her wrist in three places. Rosemary later said she remembered waking up in a pile of dirt. “They found soil in my stomach so I must have eaten some in desperation to try and stay alive. The plant was a gift from my son, so I’m obviously very grateful for it.” After a 10-day stay at the hospital, she is recovering at home.
* It’s good to get back to your roots.
* So, it was a kind of dirt nap, but not THE dirt nap.
* Did they have to check her for worms?
* As the Brits say, what a sweet old sod.
* When you reach a certain age, you should place emergency supplies every couple feet on the floor. Filled with something that won’t spoil, like Twinkies.
