15-YEAR-OLD JUST TRYING TO GET TO WALLY WORLD

Over the weekend, members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled over a Dodge Caravan for speeding. The driver turned out to be a 15-year-old boy. The boy’s 45-year-old mother and 54-year-old father were inside of the van, obviously impaired by alcohol. The boy’s sister was also in the vehicle. The family, from Columbus, Ohio, had planned on going to Cedar Point amusement park, and had traveled more than two hours to get there. It was 8:15 a.m. and they were about a half hour away from the park when they were stopped. Mom and dad both tested well over the limit for alcohol. They both face charges of child endangerment.
* ‘Cause they let him speed?
* You can see where, drunk at 6 in the morning, this seems like a really good idea.
* A family car trip to an amusement park? Gee, why would anyone want to be drunk for that?
* Get a jury trial. No jury will convict you.
* You’re not supposed to start the tailgate party until the vehicle has stopped.
* So for this kid, the thrill rides started before they got to the park.
* I like one part of this: the standard “allegedly impaired” has been upgraded to “obviously impaired.”
* Darn, what a joy it would have been for the amusement park workers to have this crew show up.
