120-POUND GREAT DANE RESCUED FROM TREE

Fire crews in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, were called to rescue a 120-pound Great Dane from a tree. Wes McGuirk, the dog’s owner, couldn’t believe his eyes when, after searching his home, yard, barn and garage for his dog, Kora, he heard a soft whining from above. McGuirk said he pointed his flashlight up the tree, “and there she was, like a little owl perched in a tree, with her eyes looking at me.” He thought, “Yep, my Great Dane is in a tree.” It’s believed she went up the tree after a raccoon or squirrel. The unusual rescue ended well for Kora, who was placed in a harness and lowered about six feet before dropping into a canvas tarp.
