WOMAN HOLDS PERSONAL TACO EAT/WALK MARATHON
Philadelphia writer Anna Orso had run the annual annual Philly 10K race twice before but did not want to pay the exorbitant entry fee again, so she decided to give herself a different kind of endurance test. She mapped out all the places that sell tacos along the route, and walked to all 13 taco locations, eating a taco at each one. She put down a total of 14 tacos and one margarita. Orso’s five-hour trek through South Philadelphia and Center City started at 11 a.m. and lasted until 4:15 p.m. She stopped at various Mexican restaurants, a Chipotle, and a pizza place that also happens to serve tacos. Orso wrote that completing the quest left her with “a triumphant feeling” but admitted that her critical faculties may have begun to flag partway through the route. “I’m not really sure what it tastes like,” she wrote, “because I can’t feel anymore.”
* That’s the difference between amateur and pro division. Eating tacos, I mean.
* It’s the only five-hour, 10K endurance test where you end up a pound heavier.
* This would be more fun if it was 14 margaritas and one taco.
* But it would end up being a 10K Pub Crawl – literally.
* The best taco? The first one, and the last one, I bet.
