WOMAN FAKES BEING A LAWYER FOR TEN YEARS
A Pennsylvania woman was caught pretending to be a lawyer for the past decade. Kimberly Kitchen, 45, of James Creek, Pennsylvania, was in line to be named partner of a firm when her fraud was discovered late last year. She was charged last Thursday with forgery and unauthorized practice of law. Kitchen fooled the BMZ Law firm by forging a law license, bar exam results, an email showing she attended Duquesne University law school and a check for a state attorney registration fee. Kitchen had once served as president of the Huntingdon County Bar Association. Kitchen used her fake law degree to handle estate planning for more than 30 clients which, by all reports, she did well. But Christopher Wencker, the current president of the county bar association, said he doesn’t think the charges are severe enough. “For a decade of that kind of behavior, those kind of charges are insufficient and don’t represent the depth or level of betrayal that was shown,” Wencker said.
* “How can another couple of lawyers make some money off this?” he demanded.
* She’s “The Grinderette!”
* They figured out she wasn’t a real lawyer when they noticed she was the only one in the office who didn’t shed her skin.
* Plus the other lawyers don’t show up when they stand in front of a mirror.
* Come on. It’s called on the job training.
* You know it’s bad when you’re not moral enough to be a lawyer.
* I like how the bar association criticized her level of betrayal. In other words, some betrayal from your lawyer is okay – just not this much.
