WIFE TAKES DEAD HUSBAND ON ROAD TRIP
An elderly woman from Alaska took her recently deceased husband on a little road trip. The recently deceased, unnamed 78-year-old man from Prince of Wales Island, died of natural causes on Saturday, July 23. He was laid in a basic aluminum casket used for transporting bodies, and loaded into the back of a pickup truck for transport to the local mortuary. But his elderly widow had other plans however, and instead of the mortuary she took her late husband on a little road trip. Three days later, at around 3:15 a.m., police in Ketchikan received an anonymous call from the area near the Potlatch Bar. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the casket in the back of the pickup with the recently departed still within and packed in ice. His wife had been driving around with him for a couple of days, stopping occasionally at fish canneries where she filled the bed of the truck with ice to keep the body chilled. The woman did not break any laws and was not charged. A local mortuary took custody of the body after police responded, and is awaiting the family’s arrangements for transport.
* Oh, there’s been enough transporting. Just get the guy in the ground already.
* She didn’t break any laws? In that case, Alaska needs a couple new laws.
* “Pardon me, ma’am, but what are you doing with this body packed in ice?” “Just chillin’.”
* Well, you can’t get on this guy for not asking for driving directions.
* He only needs directions to the after world.
* This could be the first family car trip ever where an argument didn’t break out.
* We could have another “Weekend at Bernie’s” sequel here.
* Just call it, “Weekend at Bernie’s: The Road Trip.”
