WHITE HOUSE TO GET HIGHER FENCE

A plan to increase the height of the fence surrounding the White House by approximately 6 feet, about doubling its current height, won preliminary approval from a Washington arts commission Thursday. The move follows several high-profile security breaches over the past two years. The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts gave its concept approval to the new design, which also includes thicker and stronger metal fence pickets. Officials hope to begin constructing the new fence by 2018.
* I’m for anything that will make it harder for President Donald Trump to get out of that building.
* What about a lower fence along with, say, alligators?
* How about electrifying it at random times with no announcements?
* One sign of how bureaucracy works: We’re talking about a security fence and it’s being decided by a fine arts commission.
* So the White House has an HOA?
* They’re going to start building it in 2018? Sure, what’s the rush?
* It’s not like we’re under any terrorist threats now, right?
* This is where the project starts running years late and goes a billion dollars over budget.
* Before we proceed with the plan, we need a 27-person committee to study it and make their recommendations.
