WALK OF THE UNDEAD IS DEAD

Seven years ago, a group of friends got together to dress as zombies and shuffle and groan their way through Asbury Park, New Jersey. Over time, the annual New Jersey Zombie Walk grew in size and raised money for charities. In 2013, Guinness World Records certified the event’s nearly 10,000 zombies were the world’s largest gathering of the undead. Sadly, the New Jersey Zombie Walk is ending. Organizer Jason Meehan explained via Facebook that costs have risen too high, and the decayed buildings that once served as the event’s backdrop in the city have been replaced by new condos and restaurants, spoiling the mood. Meehan is tentatively planning an Oct. 3 “funeral” for the event on the Asbury boardwalk.
* What if it refuses to die?
* We could have a zombie version of the Zombie Walk.
* It sounds like the management team was hungry for brains, but never got any.
* If I want to see a Zombie Walk I just watch people coming to work Monday morning.
* 10,000 Zombies. Wasn’t the lead singer Natalie Merchant?
* Sorry, that was 10,000 Maniacs from a long ago time called the 1980s.
