TOYS R US CLOSING FLAGSHIP NYC STORE

Toys R Us is closing its iconic flagship store in New York City’s Times Square at the end of this month. The retailer is not renewing its lease on the 110,000-square-foot store, which features a giant indoor Ferris wheel, a life-size Barbie dollhouse, and a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaur. The store opened in 2001 and will officially close on December 30.
* Kids everywhere said “meh”, and went back to their smart phones.
* Closing in less than 30 days? Gee, and they just spent the last four weeks filling the shelves with Star Wars crap.
* Dibs on the 20-foot dinosaur!
* Notice how they cleverly get the hell out on December 30 before the big mess on New Year’s Eve.
* Let somebody else sweep up the puke-drenched confetti this time.
* Wait, there was a toy store in Times Square? Wow, New York has really changed.
* There was a time when any life-size Barbies walking around Times Square were hookers.
* And most of them were guys.
* Those stores sold toys too but it was whole different thing.
* I think there was even one store on 42nd Street called “Whores R Us.”
