THE GILLETTE PUBIC HAIR COMMERCIAL
(Warning: discussion of pubic hair ahead.)
There is new ad by the Gillette Venus razor which features a singing, dancing female pube. It’s produced like a Disney song. It sounds like it’s sung by The Little Mermaid, Jodi Benson. The 1-minute spot sees the, er, lady, sitting on a bathtub soap dish, singing about the woes of life as the body’s most maligned follicle.
Lyrics:
– “I’m just a pube, and it’s not fair, all I ever wished to be was just another hair. But when they got one look at me, the ruling from society was, ‘Ew, not you.’ Oh what’s a curl to do?”
And:
– “It seems like all the ads are showing perfect skin and shiny hair, but what about this other world inside your underwear?” the strand sings.
And the best line:
– “Why the mass hysteria about the pubic area?”

* They were wondering how to extend their brand, and there was only one direction to go: down. Down there.
* Couldn’t they ease us into this with, I don’t know, armpit hair?
* I think I’ll wait until they come out with the Lego movie version of this.
