US News & World Report has compiled a chart listing the 100 best jobs in the US. The ranking takes into account multiple factors such as salary, unemployment rate and projected job growth.
– #1 is Software developer
– #2 is Statistician
– The next bunch are medical related: Physician Assistant, Dentist, Anesthetist, Orthodontist, Pediatrician, OB-GYN, Surgeon, etc.
– Then, at #17 is Mathematician.
– #18 – Cartographer
– Then, more medical jobs: Nurse, Therapist, Lab technician, Podiatrist, Speech Pathologist
– #24 – Accountant, followed by Financial Manager, Computer Systems Analyst, IT Manager, Marketing Manager
– #38 – Landscaper and Groundskeeper
– #42 – Lawyer
– #43 – Construction Manager
– #44 – Financial Advisor
– #45 – School Psychologist
– #46 – Political Scientist
– #47 – Prosthetist (artificial limb maker)
– #48 – Database Administrator
– #49 – Optometrist
– #50 – Substance Abuse Counselor
* So the best jobs are the ones that are boring. Good to know.
* “Statistician” is #2, but you know how statistics can lie.
* I’ve been over this list three times and I don’t see radio DJ.
* Podiatrists are over 25 places ahead of Optometrists? The folks at US News & World Report haven’t smelled many feet.
* Cartographer at #18. Are there really not enough maps in the world?
