TEEN SPEEDS 101 MPH; TELLS COP HE WAS LATE FOR CLASS

New Hampshire authorities say an 18-year-old was clocked traveling at 101 mph on Interstate 93 south near Concord. A state trooper observed the pickup truck speeding on Tuesday morning and eventually stopped the driver. Nicholas Tobin told the officer he was late for class. Tobin was arrested on a charge of reckless operation.
* No, this was speeding. What happened to Joan Rivers was a reckless operation.
* This sounds like a math problem: “A car leaves Concord traveling at 101 miles per hour …”
* And thus a new NASCAR legend was born.
* Wow. This whole deal about everybody getting 15 minutes of fame is turning out to be not that great.
* Let me just pass something along to you youngsters in the audience. When you grow up, if you’re caught speeding, just shut up. The reason makes no difference. All you’re doing is giving the officer something to laugh with his buddies about.
* The one exception might possibly be if you have a woman in the car giving birth, but even then it depends on whether the officer’s in a cranky mood or not.
* I didn’t think New Hampshire was big enough to get up to 101 mph in.
* Are you kidding? He did a sliding turn through Vermont.
* I can just picture the officer: “Okay, kid, stop trying to butter me up with the phony school excuse.”
* One positive thing: At least the kid wasn’t texting.
