TEACHER BEATS UP STUDENT WHO OWED HIM WEED MONEY
A Bronx charter school teacher beat up and robbed a 16-year-old student who owed him $4,000 that the kid was supposed to use to buy him marijuana, police sources said. Teacher Kevin Pope, 48, a science teacher at John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School in Hunts Point, confronted the teen about two blocks away from the school at around 5:10 p.m. Wednesday and demanded money for the drugs, the student told police. When the student didn’t hand over the money, Pope allegedly socked the teen in the face multiple times and took his iPhone 6, gold chain and wallet containing the boy’s school ID, school MetroCard and regular MetroCard. “I want my money in a month!” the teacher said to the student after the beat-down that left the student hospitalized. Pope threatened to have him beat up again and have his mother sexually assaulted if he didn’t get his money. Pope beat the student so bad that needed three staples in the back of his head to close up a wound and suffered a laceration to his lip. Pope was arrested Friday at the school.
* He was a science teacher, but now he’s history.
* With that big of a dope habit, you’d think he’d be more mellow.
* Sometimes charter school are classier than regular schools … sometimes not.
* Pope hoped for dope, but … nope.
* Now mopey Pope has to remember not to bend over to grope for the soap.
* I don’t think we could call this a teachable moment.
* Maybe this is something new: a teachable beatdown.
* Who buys 4 grand worth of marijuana at a time? And then fronts the money? This guy could be too dumb to be a teacher.
* I can’t cope with Pope.
