SURVEY: KEEPING AN ITEM FROM A PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP
A new survey of 1,000 people by Neighbor.com finds two in three people still have an item from a previous relationship — even if they’re married now.
– 65% still have something that belonged to their ex or a gift their ex gave them.
– The most common mementos people say they still keep are love letters (50%), photos (46%), and jewelry (43%).
– On the other hand, Americans are less likely to hang onto their ex’s exercise equipment and their furniture.
– Only 18% say they have a pet from a previous relationship.
– Those that hang on to things do so because they want to preserve a memory, or the object defines a specific time in their lives, or the item is still functional and serves a purpose.
– One in four confess they keep something from their ex because they still miss them.
* My ex-wife still has my testicles.
* Many people keep those saved photos on a USB flash drive taped to the underside of a dresser drawer.
* Some keepsakes you can’t get rid of. Like scars.
* For what it’s worth, I’ve got a bottle of chutney in my refrigerator that predates my last two relationships.
* PHONE TOPIC: Are you hanging on to something special, or weird, from a previous relationship. And, no, you can’t say, “nudes.”
