SURFER BITTEN BY EEL

There were two incidents reported Saturday in Hawaii as shark attacks. One was, in fact, a shark attack but the other turned out to be an eel bite.
911 received a report of an injured surfer in Waikiki. The man said he was surfing when he fell off a wave and felt pain to his foot. He was hospitalized in serious condition with what was initially believed to be a shark bite but, on further investigation, were consistent with an eel bite.
