STUDENTS SUSPECTED OF BURNING DOWN PRINCIPAL'S HOUSE

Four students in Payette, Idaho, are suspected of torching the high school principal’s house last week. A fire consumed the home of Principal Mark Heleker in the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 22. Heleker; his wife, Lorrie, a teacher; and their daughter, Katie Erwin, 24; escaped with their lives, pets and a few personal mementos. The fire started in a plastic trash can in the driveway in front of the house. Afterwards, Heleker’s son made him aware of some comments about the fire made on social media by students, and he notified fire officials. Investigators believe the suspects – three high schoolers and a middle schooler – set the fire in retaliation for being disciplined. Two of the suspects had been suspended for the week prior.
* So, the disciplining didn’t work, then.
* I wouldn’t have thought getting a week off from school would generate such rage.
* Were they upset because they missed so many classes?
* I’ve heard of playing to a tough crowd, but this is nuts.
* And they did it on on a Monday morning! That’s just mean.
* Okay, we’re way past student prank territory here.
* Of course, it wasn’t misguided enough on its own – they had to take it to social media, too.
* If these punks were upset about a week suspension from school, they’re really going to hate their years in prison.
* If that town has any soul at all, it’ll replace the house for free. And that’s just for starters here.
* A middle schooler was also involved? Precocious little bugger, isn’t he?
