RESIDENTS DON’T WANT CREMATORIUM BUILT NEXT TO RETIREMENT HOME
Residents living in two adjoining retirement villages in Brisbane, Australia, are fighting plans to build a crematorium across the street. The application for the facility is currently in the hands of city council, but the elderly residents at the Palm Lake Resort aged care facility say it should be rejected for a number of reasons. Resident Ron Wells argued, “We all know we are going to go at some time or other but we don’t want to be reminded on a daily basis every time we go shopping and go past the furnace.” Said another, Diane Cordaro, “I don’t want to think if my neighbor dies that I’m watching her being burnt across the road.”
* Location, location, location.
* Maybe it’s just the conveyor belt over the highway they have a problem with.
* Tell the owners if they build it, you promise to haunt the placer.
* They just need to put up a sign on the front door: “No walk-ins.”
* How about a Tombstone Pizza factory?
* Then, the owner said, “OK, I’ll put up an Arby’s instead,” and everyone said, “No, crematorium! Crematorium!”
