POLITICALLY CORRECT WANT TO ELIMINATE THE WORD "DIXIE" IN THE SOUTH
The P.C. police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina want to change the name of the Dixie Classic Fair. They say the word “Dixie” is offensive. Local Councilman James Taylor says that some folks find the word “offensive” and some folks are “angry” with the name. He said that as a progressive city, they need a name that “everyone can appreciate.” The Dixie Classic Fair has been around since the 1950s – and nobody around town seems to be all that irate. A local TV news channel said their reporters could not find a single person who took offense at the name.
* And we all know how hard local news reporters work to find balance to a story.
* Should we ban it? Oh, heavens, yes. And then, we should ban the word “heavens” so as not to offend the atheists.
* Now the folks who make Dixie Cups are starting to sweat.
* The P.C. police also want the song “I Wish I Was In Dixie” changed to “I Wish I Was Somewhere Way South Of Here.”
* So I’m guessing the Dixie Chicks won’t be performing.
* That’s quite a name: The Dixie Chicks. If you’re not offending by “Dixie” maybe the term “Chicks” will get you.
* And if those two don’t do it, they’ll start talking about how the president embarrasses them.
* The local councilman is named James Taylor? So he’s seen fire and he’s seen rain then.
* And I bet he’s seen sunny days that he thought would never end.
