PARENTS TO BE FINED FOR CHEERING KIDS AT GRADUATION
Before the graduation ceremony, the superintendent of Senatobia, Mississippi, High School asked the crowd not to scream and to hold their applause until the end. But when Ursula Miller’s daughter went across the stage, she called her name out. “Lakaydra. Just like that,” Miller said. Miller said she was then asked to leave the graduation by police. Three other parents were also booted out for cheering for their graduating child. Two weeks later, the four were served papers and have to appear in court, or face jail time or a $500 fine. Senatobia Municipal School District Superintendent Jay Foster filed “disturbing the peace” charges against the four people who were asked to leave graduation. Superintendent Foster declined an interview with the local TV station, but did say he’s determined to have order at graduation ceremonies.
* Thank you, Superintendent Stick Up the Butt.
* Also, Mrs. Miller was chewing gum, and she was told to spit it out unless she had a piece for everybody.
* We’ll remember this the next time you put up a school bond issue, Superintendent Foster.
* My parents cheered at my graduation. “Third time’s the charm!” I remember them saying.
* It was the last chance the school had to power trip them, and boy, did they take it.
* Sounds like it’s been a long tough burnout of a year for Superintendent Foster.
* Disturbing the peace? Come on…you can trump up some better charges than that.
* If you really think about it, this was nothing short of domestic terrorism.
