NUN CAUGHT SMUGGLING COCAINE INTO AUSTRALIA
A Missouri nun was caught smuggling two pounds of cocaine into Australia using her high heels. Denise Marie Woodrum, 51, was caught arriving into Sydney Airport last August. Facing charges in court, her lawyer said Woodrum she had been duped by a mystery man she met online named Hendrik Cornelius. Despite exchanging hundreds of texts with Cornelius, Woodrum had never met him face to face. He convinced her to fly from Missouri to Texas and then to Trinidad and Tobago, then to Suriname in South America. He told her the trip was paid for. She texted him her list of expenses for hotels and flights, and then departed to Australia – she’d been given gifts and clothes, including the shoes, in South America to give to people in Sydney. She was stopped at the airport when the shoes tested positive for cocaine. After a failed marriage and major health problems that led to crippling bills, Woodrum became a sister of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, a religious order based in Kansas.
