NASA TO CRASH SPACESHIP INTO ASTEROID
NASA and the European Space Agency are going to crash a spaceship into an asteroid. They want to see whether it’s possible to deflect an asteroid from its course if, for example, one were heading toward Earth, (* which is definitely not the case with the one they want to crash into. Definitely. Though you know they wouldn’t tell us.) The proposed mission will use two spacecraft. One will orbit around the asteroid named 65803 Didymos, which was discovered in 1996. Another spacecraft will hit the rock a few months later, at a speed of four miles per second. The orbiter will monitor if the asteroid has changed trajectory and monitor where stray pieces of rock end up.
* If you want a space craft to crash land into something, hire Harrison Ford to pilot it.
* I think the main reason they want to do this is because who doesn’t like to see things crash into other things?
* 65803 Didymos. 65802 Didymos screwed again.
* So, we’re going to crash a spaceship intentionally? What for? The insurance money?
* That says it all about our space program.
* We used to land on the moon. Now we’re just trying to crash into an asteroid.
* I say try it. The backup plan is everybody on earth faces towards the asteroid and blows really hard.
