MOVE HALLOWEEN?
There’s a petition to move Halloween from October 31 to the last Saturday of the month. The petition, launched last year by the nonprofit Halloween & Costume Association, argues that moving the date of Halloween will lead to a “safer, longer, stress-free celebration.” It would mean trick-or-treating could start during daylight hours and not interfere with work or school, and also motivate people to have their parties on the weekend. The organization says they have around 59,000 signatures so far.
* 59,000 out of 327 million Americans. Almost there.
* Who do you submit the petition to? The American Witches Council?
* Moving it to Saturday is safer. Also, there’s never any good TV on Saturday nights.
* The Halloween & Costume Association. Is that like the April Fools Alliance, or the Arbor Day Guild, or the St. Patrick’s Syndicate, or the Christmas Cooperative?
* At least they’re not trying to move the 4th of July.
