MAN WITH A GUN TRIES TO ROB MMA GYM

In Burbank, California, a man walked into a mixed martial arts studio with loaded gun intending to rob the place. He ended up in the hospital. 30-year-old Matthew Lloyd was carrying a “black messenger-style bag” as he entered Defiant MMA gym and pulled out a gun. Lightweight MMA fighter Jacobe Powell knocked the gun out of the suspect’s hand and pinned him down until police arrived to take him into custody. The report also stated, “In order to protect himself, the instructor used martial arts techniques to control and subdue the suspect until police arrived.” No shots were fired in the gym.
