MAN STEALS $3,000 WORTH OF PENNIES
Police in Taylor, Pennsylvania, charged a man with burglary for stealing a steel drum filled with $3,000 worth of pennies that belonged to his employer. Robert E. Napolitan, 34, wheeled away the steel drum, which weighed more than 1,600 pounds, on a hand truck at Pyne Freight Lines Inc. last Monday. Tracks through the dust and a trail of pennies marked his path. Security camera footage captured Napolitan’s white Jeep Cherokee pulling in at 2:30 a.m. Monday. Police searched his Jeep and found 89 pennies underneath the seats and floor mats. Mr. Napolitan admitted he stole the pennies, police said. Mr. Napolitan is in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
* And the hernia operation is scheduled for Thursday.
* At least you can’t say this was a cents-less crime.
* To coin a phrase.
* Police searched his Jeep and found pennies, and that’s how he was caught by the coppers!
* Moron. The way to pull this caper would be – steal one handful each day.
* I just had to throw my two cents in.
* Oh no, he just tried to make bail with a big box of quarters.
* The pennies belonged to his employer. Wait – make that his “former employer.”
* I’ve heard of pinching pennies but this is ridiculous.
* The District Attorney is really rubbing it in. He begins each question by saying, “A penny for your thoughts.”
* Look, I know change can be good, but this is too much change.
