MAN SHOOTS SELF IN FOOT, TO SEE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

Adam Hirtle, 30, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, told investigators he purposely shot himself in the foot last Wednesday night because he was curious how it would feel. Investigators went to a hospital after getting a call about an accidental gun discharge. Hirtle was quick to correct them that his wounds were anything but accidental. He told officers he intentionally shot himself in the foot with a .22 caliber, semi-automatic handgun. Hirtle told them he was in the garage and decided to take off his boot and shoot his foot. Then he put the boot back on and took another shot. Hirtle did not sustain life-threatening injuries from his self-inflicted wounds. He was arrested on suspicion of a prohibited use of weapons, reckless endangerment, and other charges.
* Did the second time feel any different?
* His excuse for doing this was limp – which is also how he walks now.
* I did not know you could be arrested for recklessly endangering yourself.
* Don’t you do that just by leaving the house every day?
* This really highlights an age-old problem: holes in socks.
* Meanwhile, his foot’s thinking, “What did I do?”
* This is where you hope he was wasted on something, otherwise it’s really serious.
* I’m not a mental health expert, but this has got to be some kind of red flag.
* And some kind of red foot.
* Oh well, it’s a nice break from the self-inflicted shots where they’re taking a selfie and shoot themselves in the head.

NOTE: If this story sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Believe it or not, we brought you the following story on April 30:

MAN SHOOTS SELF IN THE FOOT TO SEE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

A man from the town of Elda, Spain, shot himself in the foot, apparently for no other reason than to discover what it felt like. The 35-year-old was rushed to a hospital. The unnamed man bought the handgun for no other purpose than shooting himself in the foot. Police have not ruled out sending the man for psychological evaluation. They are still looking for the gun, which the man threw out of the window of his neighbor’s car as they drove to the hospital.
* So … what did it feel like?
* I’m betting it did not feel very good.
* He threw the gun away? Why not do the other foot and compare results?
* It’s just a saying, you dummy. So you really shot yourself in the foot when you shot yourself in the foot.
* One question – why not shoot yourself right outside the hospital, instead of miles away?
* Don’t worry: He can still do sports and everything. Well, at least hopscotch.
