MAN ATTACKED WITH HIS OWN HULA HOOP

A Brooklyn man was attacked with his own hula hoop Sunday after standing up to defend an older couple who had declined to donate to dancing panhandlers on the subway. Jean-Loup Wolfman, a street performer himself, had just given the two panhandlers a dollar when one of the men turned on a “tiny elderly couple” and demanded money as the train pulled into 14th Street-Union Square station. The 48-year-old Wolfman stepped in but the two turned on him, grabbing hula hoop and hitting Wolfman on the head, causing a large gash. The fight spilled out onto the platform, where Wolfman screamed (* or, rather, howled) for police. The two assailants took off and remain at large.
