MALAYSIA’S ANSWER TO CORONOAVIRUS: WOMEN SHOULD MAKE THEMSELVES PRETTIER

Malaysia’s government is being criticized for telling women to dress up at home and avoid nagging their husbands during the coronavirus lockdown. Posters circulated by the country’s Women’s Affairs Ministry on Tuesday issued advice on how to avoid domestic conflicts during the country’s partial lockdown. One of the illustrations said women should refrain from being “sarcastic” if they need help with household chores. Another urged women to dress up and wear their make-up while working from home. The posters – for some reason – immediately sparked a fierce backlash, with critics accusing the government of sexism and promoting gender stereotypes.
* It didn’t help that the posters showed the men wearing crowns and holding scepters.
* Sounds like they’ve got this whole COVID thing well in hand.
* They didn’t do one about making your husband a sammich?
* This is nothing. You should see the recommendations for women that DIDN’T make the cut.
