LOST HIKERS GOT BAD INFORMATION FROM A TEXAN
Dustin Beaver and his three children got lost while hiking in the Weminuche Wilderness northeast of Durango, Colorado. They left on Saturday, and became lost, according to Mr. Beaver, after another hiker from Texas gave them the “faulty information” about which way to go. Beaver and his 8-year-old twins, a boy and girl, and his 6-year-old son camped out for two nights – they had a tent, enough food and water and were able to build a fire each night – and were found by two other hikers on Monday, who helped them out to a trailhead. The family was in good shape. Their only complaint was an abundance of bug bites.
* Thus the war between Colorado and Texas began.
* Was it really “another hiker from Texas” who got them lost, or is that just what he told his kids?
* “You remember him, right kids? Oh, wait – that was when I ran ahead of you and around a curve where you couldn’t see me.”
* By the way, nice job getting all the information together before you left the house.
* What part of the word “Wilderness” were you unclear about?
* Who takes a tent on a day hike?
* Oh well. Leave it to Beaver.
* And you know he’s heard that a few million times in his life.
* In his life? How about by third grade?
* But that just steadied him for all the beaver jokes in high school.
* Why would he take information from a guy who was so lost he had walked from Texas?
