INDIANA TICKETS SLOW DRIVERS IN LEFT LANE
About a year ago, Indiana passed a law requiring slower drivers to move over from the left lanes of highways in favor of faster vehicles. Since that time, Indiana state troopers have issued more than 100 tickets to left-lane slowpokes. The law allows police to issue tickets to left-lane drivers who don’t budge when they should reasonably know another vehicle is overtaking them. State police report troopers wrote at least 1,535 warnings and 109 tickets under the law since last July. State police Capt. David Bursten says the intent isn’t to penalize drivers for not yielding to others who may be speeding, but to discourage inconsiderate drivers who think they own the left lane and help avoid traffic backups.
* Can we vote for the state of Indiana for President?
* Next up: Jerks that won’t let you merge into traffic from an on-ramp.
* Can you do this yourself as a citizen’s arrest? That would be cool. Well, until you got beat up.
* I can just imagine the politicians saying, “1,535 warnings? That’s lost revenue.”
* You know the two favorite words for a politician? Revenue stream.
* Actually, their favorite words are, “We’ve decided not to file charges.”
* It’s one thing is there’s a regular car overtaking you, but if you don’t move over for a police car, you’re basically asking for it.
* So if you’re in the left lane, remember to floor it, or this could happen to you.
* PHONE TOPIC: Are there any idiots out there who believe they are doing the public a favor by purposely blocking the left lane?
