ELDERLY WOMAN ATTACKED BY SEA TURTLE
A Russian woman was bitten on the buttocks and nearly drowned during an attack by an aggressive sea turtle. Lidia Bazarova, 64, was swimming in the Mediterranean Sea near the popular Güzeolaba Resort in the west of Turkey. She was only 10 or 12 feet from shore when something grabbed her backside and tried to drag her under. A lifeguard heard her screams. He rushed toward Bazarova and started “yelling” at the creature, which prompted the turtle to release its grip on the old woman, but it then bit the lifeguard on the shoulder before swimming off. The creature has since been identified as a loggerhead sea turtle, a highly carnivorous reptile which preys on crabs, mussels and other mollusks – and people. Loggerheads will attack humans who invade their living space. There have reportedly been 11 sea turtle attacks in that area in the past two weeks alone.
* Too cheap to put up a sign?
* The sea was angry that day, my friends.
* Sometimes your choice of vacation spot can come back and bite you in the ass.
* But they’re so cute in the movies.
* And after all the help we give these little boogers getting across the sand into the sea after they’re hatched.
