COUPLE WAKES TO FIND MOUNTAIN LION MAULING A DEER ON THEIR FRONT PORCH
Mary Mines and Peter Rauenbuehler were sleeping in their Hillsborough, California, home when they heard loud noises outside their bedroom window. Mary looked through the peephole, and thought it was a coyote. Then she opened the door and saw that, no, it wasn’t a coyote. It was a mountain lion. Mountain lions are not uncommon in Hillsborough. And it was mauling a dead deer. She quickly shut the door. Their security camera captured video of the big cat dragging the deer off their property. They heard the mountain lion slamming the deer onto their metal fence, dragging it over the railing, and later saw deer hair on the fence.
* And other stuff, too, I’d imagine.
* “Hey, look what the cat dragged in!”
* It’s the Circle of “Yuck!”.
* Hard to find a nice angle to this story, but – hey, at least the deer was dead.
* The alternative would have gone way past “loud noises”.
* Mountain lions are not uncommon in Hillsborough, and deer are becoming less common.
* Are they sure the mountain lion hadn’t nailed one of them porch pirates we hear so much about?
* Mary and Peter say they are going to move to someplace safer now, like Australia.
* “Hey, this wild life special looks great on your high def TV.” “That’s the picture window, you idiot.”
* Just based on these wacky news stories, mountain lions are making a real comeback.
* We had the husband from “Flip or Flop” talking about mountain lions just the other day.
* And now his wife is a real cougar.
