COUPLE MOVING INTO APARTMENT FINDS BODY
A couple moving into a New York City apartment were shocked to find the body of the previous tenant in a cupboard and wrapped in a shower curtain along with a note from the killer. The landlord believed that his tenant, Sidney Harris, was in a hospital and wouldn’t be back. So he made a deal with the couple, both 18, to allow them to rent the apartment if they helped clear out Harris’ belongings. It was while doing this that they found a foot sticking out of a bundle of blankets. The body belonged to Harris, 64, an ex-con and repeat offender who had been arrested 11 times on charges that included statutory rape, drug possession and robbery. Neighbors described Harris as a “sweet guy.” The killer left a short note along with the body saying “sorry for the smell.”
* It should be said that, in New York City, finding a body is the least of your problems. You could have roaches, or rats.
* Not removing the body? That’s just lazy.
* I mean, it’s a New York apartment building. Surely there’s a dumpster outside?
* Just curious – does the couple want the cupboard replaced?
* “If you think we’re stacking the plates we eat off in there – you’re nuts!”
* Ah, the obligatory comment from the neighbors saying he was a sweet guy.
* If he was such a sweet guy, why did somebody want to kill him?
* At least he has no more annoying meetings with his parole officer.
* I can’t condone what the person who killed him did, but you have to admire the thoughtful note.
* I think more homicidal maniacs should be this considerate.
* Yes, the man had been arrested 11 times, but one of those wasn’t his fault.
