COPS FIND $24 MILLION IN DRUG MONEY IN HOME DEPOT BUCKETS
In Florida, Miami-Dade police detectives raided the home of a suspected marijuana trafficker and found at least $24 million in cash – mostly in bundles of $100 bills in heat-sealed bags – stuffed in dozens of orange 5-gallon Home Depot-brand buckets. Most of the money was found inside a secret compartment in the attic of the Miami Lakes home. The find qualifies as the largest cash seizure in the department’s history. Arrested was Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez, 44, who owns and operates the Blossom Experience, a North Miami-Dade store that sells lights, fans and other equipment for indoor gardening.
* “Indoor Gardening” in quotes, of course.
* “Home Depot: You can traffic it; we can help.”
* $24 million. Makes you wonder how much they REALLY found.
* The attic glowed with so much orange, the detectives first yelled, “Donald Trump, come out with your hands up!”
* The one guy who never watched “Breaking Bad” and saw how to launder large amounts of money.
* Should have put it in real estate.
* At what point do you say, “We’ve got enough. Let’s quit before we get busted”?
* When you talk about the largest drug-related cash seizure in Dade County you are really saying something.
* You realize that covers the cocaine era down there.
* Watch a documentary called Cocaine Cowboys. You’ll see. Miami was seriously off the hook.
