COLORADO RADIO STATION IS NOW ALL-MARIJUANA, ALL THE TIME
Radio station KREL-AM in Colorado Springs, Colorado had a format flip this week. Instead of sports news and talk shows, the station is now KHIG, the nation’s first radio station dedicated to talk and news coverage of the legal marijuana industry. The station has attracted dispensaries as advertisers, and hundreds of followers on social media. The new format focuses on a range of topics related to medical and recreational marijuana, with some programming on alternative medicine, yoga and related subjects mixed in, said Mike Knar, general manager. KHIG-AM is starting out with three local shows on weekdays: “Wake and Bake” from 7 to 9 a.m., “High Noon” from noon to 1 p.m. and “High Drive” from 5 to 7 p.m.
* Mike says the new format is “Smokin’!”
* The one major drawback is, the station is paranoid somebody may be listening.
* Actually, many of the fans forget to tune in.
* KHIG? was KPOT taken?
* If you smoke a lot, you listen to KILO.
* Wake and bake should be more like eleven a.m. to one.
* “Here’s the traffic report. Dude, where’s everybody going? Back to you, bro.”
* I say better this than another one of these endless sports talk shows.
* Given that marijuana can impair you behind the wheel, I would rethink the High Drive idea.
* The problem with driving high is the bad crash.
* Somebody must have been pretty stoned to let that one sneak past them.
