CAMEL BEAUTY CONTEST FINDS A WINNER
The Most Beautiful Camel pageant in the country of Qatar, is over. A camel named Mangiah Ghufran was declared winner Tuesday of the one million riyal ($275,000), the top prize at the first Qatar Camel Festival. Organizers in Qatar were on alert after a scandal at a recent festival in Saudi Arabia, where 43 camels were disqualified after it was found they were given Botox to make their lips droopier and fillers to make their humps more shapely (* Hey – just like in Hollywood!). But Mangiah Ghufran was found to be cosmetic surgery-free. Owner Fahed Farj Algufrani collected the check and told how it had taken “years” to prepare the camel for the event. To pick the winners, the judges look at “the size and beauty” of the head, the length of the neck and the position of the camel’s hump.
* Baby Got Hump.
* Mangiah Ghufran, whose talent is “spitting,” reportedly killed it in the swimsuit competition.
* She also wants to bring attention to her charity, “Oases for Humanity,” a non-profit which builds waterholes for wayward camels. Ex-President Jimmy Qatar has done work for them.
* Why did they hold the contest on Tuesday? They should have held it on Wednesday – Hump Day.
* The camel will go on the represent Qatar in this year’s Miss Universe pageant. Sadly, that is not a typo.
* Man, Qatar has all the fun, huh?
