BLACK MOON THIS FRIDAY
You’ve heard of a Blue Moon? This Friday, we’re going to have a Black Moon. A Blue Moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. But this Friday, September 30th, not only will is be the second new moon in a calendar month, but it will be a new moon, meaning it will not be a visible event – the side of the moon that is illuminated will be facing away from the Earth. All we will see is the moon in shadow, perhaps with a little glow around the edges. The last time that two new moons fell in the same month was March of 2014.
* Yes. March of 2014. I’m sure you all remember how excited you were.
* How can a Black Moon be better than a Blue Moon when nobody’s written a song about it?
* So if you wait long enough, do they eventually come in all colors?
* Rarest of all are the Striped Moon and Plaid Moon.
* Let me get this straight: I’m supposed to look up at the sky and see nothing?
* Once every two years is NOT that rare, fellas.
* It’s good that the Black Moon can’t be seen too good, so that it doesn’t get shot by police.
* So if I’ve got this right, we have a black moon once in a blue moon.
* This is getting confusing.
* I thought the dark side of the moon was a Pink Floyd album.
* A shadow with a little glow around the edges … sounds like the integrity of our presidential candidates.
* Oh, why bother with the moon? Everyone knows it’s just a hologram anyway.
