BINGO GRANNIES CHASE OFF ROBBERS
In Gisborne, New Zealand, a group of grandmothers threw chairs, swung handbags and kicked over tables to fight off two thieves who tried to rob them of $700 during their bingo night. About 30 women – the oldest of whom was 87 – were playing Bingo on Friday at the Gisborne Pirates Rugby Club when two masked thieves burst into their game. One woman flipped over her table in front of one fleeing thief, causing him to fall. Some of the others started hitting him with their bags. Other players began throwing plastic chairs at the second man in the doorway. They both ran off, leaving behind the bag of money. The two robbers remain at large.
* They bungled the bingo bang-up.
* “Grandma, what big fists you have!”
* They flipped over tables, threw chairs, and threatened to tell the robbers lots of stories about their grandchildren.
* Good thing the grannies weren’t playing darts.
