BELLIGERENT MAN TO COP: "WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO, FAT BOY?"
David Trent Smith, a 35-year-old Mississippi man, had been fighting with two women in the lobby of a Fort Walton Beach, Florida, hotel, and he was yelling at the desk clerk on May 8 when a police officer arrived. The clerk asked the officer to remove Smith from the lobby. The officer told Smith three times to step outside, but he stopped to yell at the females and ignored the officer. The officer responded by pushing Smith to force him outside, at which point Smith turned and aggressively “bear-hugged” the officer. The officer told Smith to turn him loose, but Smith refused, asking the cop, “What are you going to do, fat boy?” At that point, the officer started hitting Smith with his fists, the police report said. When Smith finally let him go, the officer “subdued” him with a Taser.
* First, it sounds like a terrific hotel they’ve got there.
* The hotel has so many fights it doesn’t have a check in. It has a weigh-in.
* You know it’s bad when the hotel concierge is a fight doctor.
* Not too crazy by Florida standards, but it’ll have to do.
* “Fat boy”? Hey, pick on someone your own size!
* Call a cop “fat boy” and you’re just asking to get sat on.
* At least say, “What are you going to do, fat boy, SIR?”
