AUDIO: WOMAN THREATENED TO THROW HER SHOE AT THE POPE
As Pope Francis was headed onto the floor of Congress, a woman in the crowd, with a noticeable Southern accent, could be heard saying that she planned to “take my shoe off and throw it at his head.” The words were uttered just as Pope Francis was being led onto the House floor for his historic speech. The audio was captured by CNN, just after Wolf Blitzer introduced the action. It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone on Pope Francis’ security team heard the remark. Francis came and went without incident.
* What you don’t hear is Joe Biden daring her to do it.
* This is why the pope needs a bullet-proof Segway, to travel safely in small, enclosed areas.
* It brings back bad memories. Remember when they threw a shoe at President Bush?
* Okay, from now on everyone at these things has to wear Flip Flops.
* Maybe it’s some kind of religious ceremony I haven’t heard about.
* Perhaps the callers can help here? Is the Throwing of the Shoes a ceremonial thing?
