AUDIO: STREET MAGICIAN TRIES THE OLD DISAPPEARING BIKINI TRICK
A man working as a street magician in Clearwater, Florida, was arrested Sunday for allegedly pulling off a woman’s bikini while doing a trick. Richard Cook was performing street magic Sunday around 8 p.m., doing a trick in which he was trying to make a scarf disappear from his hand, when he asked for a volunteer and the victim came forward. He told the woman to keep both hands out in front of her, and as she did he reached down and pulled her bikini bottoms out from her side. The woman was able to grab her bottoms to not expose herself and told Cook she did not feel comfortable doing the trick. Cook responded “you will feel comfortable” and immediately did it again. (* So he’s a hypnotist now?) The victim ran off and alerted the first police officer she saw. Cook has an extensive criminal history and has served six stints in the state prison system.
* The state of Florida will now make him disappear.
* Wait – So, what happened with the scarf?
* I’ve heard of fooling your audience by making them look elsewhere, but this is a little nuts.
* Even David Blaine never stooped to this.
* Sure, he served 6 stints in prison, but one of them wasn’t his fault.
* The other 5? Okay, those were all him.
* Darn, I want to live someplace where random people in a street crowd are wearing bikinis.
* I bet the trick doesn’t work as well with a parka.
* He could still get out of this, but he’s really going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat in court.
