AUDIO: SOUTHERN MOM DESTROYS KIDS' CELL PHONE

A Southern mom decided to take action in order to discipline her kids’ dependence on social media. In a video on YouTube, the woman takes her kids’ iPhone, places it on a tree stump, and blasts it with a shotgun. “I hereby denounce the effects that social media have on my children,” she declares. “Their disobedience and their disrespect.” Then, she takes a sledgehammer and smashes it. “My children’s lives are more important to me than any electronics on this earth,” she says. “I refuse to be cursed. I refuse to be disobeyed. I take back my role as your parent.” She complains about her kids “contacting people they don’t know, being involved in drama they don’t need to be in, and being in trouble at school for having phones out.”

* Talk about drama!
* Doesn’t she know you can sell used iPhones?
* Wasn’t this exact scene on “Downton Abbey” recently?
* It’s high tech Rock, Paper, Scissors: Shotgun and Sledgehammer beat iPhone.
* “My children’s lives are more important to me than any electronics on this earth”? What if they were on heart-lung machines?
* Now the kids have to go back to playing Xbox.
* If she took away her kids’ cell phone, someone needs to take away this woman’s reality shows.
* Her stance against social media would seem stronger if the clip wasn’t on YouTube.
* I think I’m going to file this with those stories where people accidentally shoot themselves taking a selfie.
* I’ve never wanted to shoot my phone. Now, my computer? Hundreds of times.
* And I wouldn’t place it on a tree stump and shoot it with a shotgun. Nope, I’d want to do it right here at my desk.
* Ironically, it’s the same way they treat bad workers at the phone factory in China.
