AUDIO: DUNKIN' DONUTS THINKING ABOUT DROPPING 'DONUTS'

Dunkin’ Donuts is thinking about dumping “Donuts” from its name. A store in Pasadena, California, is testing out the Dunkin’-only name. The chain wants people to think of its stores as a destination for coffee, although it will still sell doughnuts. Dunkin’ Donuts said it won’t make a decision on whether it will change its name until late next year, when it expects to start redesigning stores.
* Dunkin’? What are they thunkin’?
* Because when I think “coffee”, I think of the word “dunkin'”. It’s so obvious.
* I don’t think Starbucks is worried.
* If this were a Seinfeld joke, it would start off with “Who are the ad geniuses who came up with this?”
* The word Dunkin’ doesn’t reference donuts, it doesn’t reference coffee. They might as well just drop everything except the apostrophe.
* Is the company thinking, “We could save a fortune in printing ink if we cut the word ‘donuts’ from our name!”
