COUPLE MARRIES IN SUPERMARKET ON THANKSGIVING
An Albany, Georgia, couple got married on Thanksgiving Day at the grocery store where they began their relationship four years earlier. Larry Tinson was picking up some last-minute cranberry sauce at Harvey’s Supermarket shortly after returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He spotted his old friend, Mary, and said “Hey girl.” The two had not seen each other in 20 years. They started dating, and last Thursday Larry and Mary got married in the place where it all began. Said Ken Wicker, Harvey’s vice president: “To our knowledge this is the first time we’ve ever had a real wedding in one of our supermarkets.”
* Are there fake weddings there all the time or something?
* I wouldn’t have thought “Hey girl” was much of a pick-up line, but there you have it.
* What father hasn’t dreamed of walking his daughter down the cereal aisle?
* At least they didn’t run into each other at, like, a car wash.
* It’s a cute idea, PLUS it saves a ton of money. Win-win!
* The couple was registered over at the deli.
* Then they swung by the bakery department for some wedding cake.
* Finally, it was time for the bride to throw the six-pack of Brawny paper towels.
* Where was the reception? In the laundromat next door?
* Smart move. This way he’ll remember his anniversary every time he goes to the store.
* Imagine the store’s employees. You somehow survive the Thanksgiving rush and then you have to put on a wedding.
* Are you thinking what I’m thinking? If the groom served in Afghanistan they can do whatever they want.
* You have to admit: There’d be plenty of rice to throw when they left.
