AUDIO: POLICE OFFICER SAVES ALL THE ANIMALS IN BURNING PET STORE
Remember the scene in “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure” where he saved all the animals in a burning pet store? (* see music track below) New Jersey police officer Rafael Burgos did the same thing. Officer Burgos was one of the first officers on the scene of the pet store fire in Franklin. With no way of knowing if anybody was trapped inside, Officer Burgos fought through the smoke and conducted a search. After confirming that there were no people inside, Officer Burgos began rescuing the dozens of dogs, cats and other animals. Shortly after Officer Burgos concluded his rescue, the local fire department arrived on the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze.
* Hot dog!
* Animal Lives Matter!
* Burgos kept the animals from becoming burgers.
* They kept calling Officer Burgos a hero, and he’d say, “I know you are but what am I?”
* Hero Rafael Burgos immediately goes onto Trump’s “Do Not Deport” list.
* They haven’t identified the cause of the blaze, but there was a cigarette butt found in the hamster’s shredded newspaper.
* The parrots were yelling “Save us first! Save us first!”
* Pet stores are great. If you’re broke you can still take your kids there and tell them it’s a zoo.
* Not a big-time zoo with lions and elephants but a small low-key zoo.
* Here’s my animal rescue list: First the dogs, then the cats, then the birds, and finally – if there’s enough time – the snakes.
* Speaking of New Jersey, did you know they won’t let Chris Christie visit the zoo? Yeah, when the lions see how fat he is they get too excited.
* There was one good thing with the fire: The smoke helped cover that pet store smell.
